The paper provides new evidence on how Russian prepositions that govern two or more cases can be stored in the mental lexicon of a native speaker. The data from the Russian word association thesaurus and the Russian National Corpus are compared in the research. The frequency of usage is shown to be crucial for one case to have stronger associations with a preposition than the other.
