In the article of O.A.Gorodov, Doctor of Law, Professor Department of Commercial Law, Saint Petersburg State University (Saint Petersburg, gorodovoleg@gmail.com) the the legal model that forms the basis of one of the most important institutions of information law, called the mass media are described. The author evaluates the individual interpretations of this Institution available in the literature and shows the most significant differences between periodical publications and certain objects of copyright.
