The article deals with the issue of modern neologisation of the Russian language by means of Anglisisms. This unprecedentedly dynamic process often involves the emergence of new words as well as adding new meanings to already existent lexical items due to poor translation of the source language words by underqualified translators. The major part of the modern neologisms are semantic calques, e.g. words which adopted new meanings through the influence of the English language as a result of translation literalism. Another popular tendency is borrowing new semantics because of incorrect translation of bilingual homophones (also known as false friends). Many Anglisisms in the Russian language are prone to displacing original words or already assimilated loanwords, which can be explained by the modern language fashion for English language.
