The article is devoted to the study of Kiezdeutsch as a socio-ethnolect of the modern German language, which is a combination of the elements of the language of immigrants and German youth slang, in the context of the German-language media discourse. The media discourse includes both written and oral forms of discourse realized in the framework of mass communication, for example, the novel of a German writer of the Turkish origin F. Zaimoglu “Kanak Sprak - 24 Mißtöne vom Rande der Gesellschaft”, comedy show, talk show, pop-music, etc. A distinction is made between two categories that describe the aspects of criticism and imitation of the language and culture of immigrants: the stylized options and Kiezdeutsch proper (H. Wiese). The special features of Kiezdeutsch include the widespread use of the lexical items of the immigrants’ native language (primarily Turkish and Arabic), hybrid lexical items, various suggestive highlycharged expressions, the incorrect word order in a declarative sentence with a finite verb in the first place (instead of the second), and various kinds of clitization, for example, monomorphemic forms made up by assimilation and blending of predicative units. The analysis of the material showed that in the modern German media discourse there are three radical ways of typificating immigrants: negative, neutral and positive. Negative typification includes negative stereotyping and negative stigmatization, i.e. attributing certain role clichés and socio-cultural stereotypes to foreigners, which is regarded by German society as degradation. With a positive or neutral acceptance of the elements of immigrants’ culture and language, Kiezdeutsch is regarded as a phenomenon capable of influencing the linguistic consciousness of young people and asking for attention and serious research.
