The aim of the research is to establish, through corpus analysis, the chronological trends and characteristic contexts of the lexeme “Angst” ‘fear’ in German-language psychological journalism. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the article for the first time identifies specific markers accompanying the contextualization of anxious-phobic sentiments in psychological journalistic texts. As a result of a quantitative-qualitative study of 3290 articles published in the online version of the journal “Psychologie Heute” from 2013-2025, the relative frequency of the lexeme “Angst” in German-language psychological journalism and the DWDS corpus of contemporary German was compared. Typical collocations for the constructions “Angst + vor” and “Angst + davor” were identified, and characteristic subject and object verbs used together with “Angst” were revealed. The obtained results showed that fear is predominantly contextualized as a personal experience against the backdrop of social trends. There is a shift in the authors’ focus from personal anxieties to sociogenic ones during years of crisis and upheaval. The research results are of interest not only to linguists but also to specialists in the fields of psychology and media communications.
