The modern statistical data show that in French literary texts every second adjective is placed before the noun it is referring to. It can be supposed that the anteposition of traditionally post-positioned qualitative adjectives is used by the authors as a peculiar means of expressiveness in order to reach a certain stylistic and communicative effect. The analysis of the language material shows that the choice of the article before the noun group plays a crucial role. The research demonstrates that an author can reach the desired effect and make the narration more vivid and expressive using the interaction of grammar semantics of the article (as the means of expressing the correlation of the concept with the situation of speech) and the lexical semantics of the antepositioned adjective together with the noun it is referring to. The emphatic characteristics of the adjective placed in an unusual position are essential as well.
