The article represents the comparative analysis of the original text of Evgeny Yelchin’s
“Breaking Stalin’s Nose” and its Russian translation — inner speech level, modal, expressive
and historical levels. The difference between the original and translated texts demonstrates
that in the original text the technique of “estrangement” isn’t used consistently because of
possible discrepancy of children’s literature main features and complexity of social and historical questions
