The article analyzes alignment in demotivators and tweets, showing how individual users coordinate their messages both in the verbal and visual components and cross-modally to create an integrated communicative strategy which is aimed at representing Trump and his supporters as a threat and consolidating pro-democratic electorate. It is shown that this general strategy is being developed in a number of thematic threads. At the same time some users create messages that serve as “bridges” between the threads due to the use of lexical and visual means typical of the two (or more) threads at a time.
