The article discusses the features of self-esteem of social skills of adults depending on their experience in relationships with parents in childhood. The study involved 57 people (18 to 32 years old). Methods used: "Self-assessment of adaptive and maladaptive personality traits" and "Parent-child relationships in the family" (V.N. Kunitsyna). It was found that the positive verbal and nonverbal feedback of the parent, ability to maintain in ambiguous situations and respect for the physical and psychological boundaries of the child, correlate with the ability to build positive relationships with people and to provide emotional stability in various situations. A high degree of parental control, ignoring the needs and desires of the child, disproportionate punishment correlate with self-esteem ofthe ability to get along with people, regulate their emotions internally and during communication, reliability in compliance with agreements and the ability to release insults. The conclusion is drawn about the interrelation of social skills of the individual with the educational skills of parents.
