The article deals with phraseological units that reflect gender relations in Russian and Chinese languages in aspect of the theory of speech acts by Searle. According to it all gathered proverbs are divided into 3 groups representing locative, illocative and perlocative acts. Directives (mainly advice) dominate in both lalguages. Advice are expressed with the help of different grammar and expressive means. The research shows the similarity and difference in mentality of folks of two cultures.
