The study aims at identifying similarities and differences in the semantic structure of the corresponding terms of Russian and English linguodidactic discourse. Despite the fact that there are several works that identify the complete or partial differences in the semantic structure of the corresponding Russian and English linguodidactic terms, this issue has not been adequately addressed neither in linguistic perspective. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the identification and comprehensive description of discordances in the semantic structure of the corresponding terms of Russian and English linguodidactic discourse. The results of the research allow us to state that one of the distinctive features of a significant number of the analyzed terminology is semantic asymmetry, which is understood as differences in the denotative and/or connotative components of the semantic structure. It was revealed that the semantic asymmetry of the analyzed terminology systems most often manifests itself in two forms – semantic application and connotative asymmetry. The main factors contributing to the development of semantic asymmetry of terminological units of Russian and English linguodidactic discourse are the national peculiarities of scientific traditions, the cultural conditioning of the connotative load of terminological units, and terminological interference, which taken together causes significant difficulties in interlingual professionally oriented communication.
