For centuries, the main way for the states to influence its opponents was “hard power”, the components of which were bribery and military power. However, globalization, the spread of the ideas of humanity and the growth of a society of mass consumption have allowed the emergence of a new institution that has an impact on modern international relations - “soft power” based on completely different principles than “hard power”.
