In this article, we will offer a detailed analysis of one gomelia from the col lection of Midrash “Tanchuma”, where the Oral Torah is identified with the Greek concept μυστήριον in combination with its interpretation as a kind of ‘translation’ of the Written Torah. Researches have repeatedly scrutinized fragments of this go melia while discussing Judeo-Christian polemics in antiquity. However, they fo cused on particular passages without trying to consider them within the composition of the gomelia (petichta). We will try to show that this petichta includes a much more complex polemic statement than is commonly believed.
