The article represents an analysis of the activities of a prominent Buddhist, Li Shutong, in terms of contribution to the dialogue of cultures and the spread of Buddhism in China. The author presents a short biography of Lee, as well as the reasons that served as his appeal to Buddhism. He also analyzes his creative life in terms of music and painting, as well as his teaching activities and how they influenced the spread of Buddhism in China. Particular attention is paid to the collection of “Songs of Serenity” - the main work of Li Shutong in the field of music and religion. His analysis provides a clear example of the synthesis of eastern and western cultures.
