The paper describes the results of the study of patterns of cognitive behavior manifested during the processing of verbal texts and infographics. We hypothesized that levels of comprehension and self-evaluation of comprehension of texts were different depending on their formats. The overall sample of the study included 107 volunteers. At the main stage, the were collected from 40 participants (aged 18 - 37, Me = 22; 77.5% female) who read two texts of different formats and contents; performed tasks based on the texts and evaluated their own levels of comprehension; answered questions during semi-structured in-depth interviews. The interview protocols were evaluated by two independent experts. We found no difference between comprehension of texts of various formats (except for the most complicated text); self-evaluation of verbal texts' comprehension was higher than that of infographics; qualitative specifics of cognitive behavior manifested during reading of texts presented in different formats was described.
