The development of design education at SPBU is multifaceted. Based on the principles of the
traditional school, it successfully includes heuristic techniques and participatory technologies
both in designing open spaces and in working with chamber forms. The formation of relevant
competencies is demonstrated by the example of a joint project of the educational programs «Graphic
Design» and «Environmental Design». A series of business games were held with the participation
of master program students. Based on the results obtained at the request of the employer bachelors
are prepared in a paired graduate qualification work, which demonstrates the potential for the
transit zones development of educational institutions as communication spaces using the example
of the SPBU Academic Gymnasium named after Faddeev D.K.
