The article attempts to approach folklore names as culturally specific words. The analysis is carried out on the phonetic level that is often neglected in translation, yet is essential as the meaning of a folklore name is affective and illogical in nature. The article identifies the major phonetic means to create the folklore names, key translation techniques, and the results of translation.
