The article examines the verbalization of the “Procrastination” concept in Russian business monuments, texts and folklore sources of the XVI-XVII centuries. The vocabulary association under study is based on the idea of the timely execution of something implemented by language units calling actions, states, and processes that are undesirable for native speakers. The object of study is more than 50 lexical units and sustainable phrases as their derivatives with a common meaning ‘procrastination, delay’. It is determined that verbal units in the analyzed lexical-semantic field prevail. The most voluminous families of words and sustainable phrases nominating typical everyday life, legislative sphere, and judicial practice of Moscovite Rus` situations are identified. It is concluded that the lexical-semantic field “Procrastination” is an important fragment of the cultural-linguistic worldview of Moscovite Rus`. Frequent use of its lexical units with negation as well as a large number of phraseological units including business phrases with negation indicate the importance of the idea of timeliness in two broad areas - business (in particular, juridical) and everyday-conversational.
