Photovoltaic properties of solar cells are studied not under monochrome radiation, but under a wide heat radiation spectrum of an incandescent lamp. By changing the filament current we obtain the dependence of the photocurrent on the change in the heat radiation lamp spectrum, and after some mathematical treatment see the threshold nature of the photoelectric effect and estimate the band gap. The most simple equipment is required, available at any school.
