The paper deals with the analysis of various English translational correspondences of Russian imperative and interrogative utterances in the translational perspective. The analysis involves seven English translations of Leo Tolstoy novel “Anna Karenina”. The theoretical basis of the analysis lies in the conception of Aleksandr Bondarko which analyses grammatical phenomena with the relation of the communicative aims of the speaker. The analysis of the problems dealing with the category of Personality in English is based on the principles of Field approach to grammatical phenomena and functional methodology of research
