This article discusses the phenomenon of lexical interference, the occurrence of which is determined by complex linguistic and extralinguistic factors. It presents the main types of lexical interference, its possible sources and kinds of manifestations. The article also discusses methods to overcome lexical interference during English lessons in high school, offers methodological recommendations for teachers and examples of exercises.
