Translation of official speech of the first person of the state reflecting social trends, position of the country in the international arena, pain points in domestic policy, requires a particularly careful attitude to the intentions of the author, directly expressed in the text or implicitly present at the time of speech. Being one of the varieties of persuasive discourse, political discourse aims at making cognitive changes in the picture of the addressee's world. To achieve this goal, the speaker uses different strategies and, within a chosen strategy, he resorts to certain types of tactics. The analysis of manipulative impact of official speech will help the future interpreter in his practice, especially if translation of official speech is done orally. A clear understanding of the principles of speech construction, as well as the of the strategies used by the speaker, will help the future translator overcome the difficulties standing in his way.
