The article considers the reasons why digital competence should be attributed to the values of language education. Language education is considered in the context of studying foreign, and, above all, English as the main language of intercultural communication. The concept of the value of education is considered from the standpoint of the activity approach and those changes that have occurred in the field of various social practices under the influence of the dissemination of digital culture. The author interprets digital competence as a complex of knowledge and skills that goes beyond computer literacy and the ability to use digital tools as a broader concept that unites the language of communication and interacts with new aspects of culture. The article analyzes philosophical, linguocultural and psychological-pedagogical factors of personality transformation processes developing in digital culture.
