The article characterizes cases of semantic specification of winged words-biblicalisms against the background of similar linguistic units in other languages (especially Slavic). With the common sacred source in each of them, the perception of biblical expressions can develop nationally specific connotations and have a different stylistic assessment. The reason for this is both the difference in the translations of the Bible, and the peculiarities of the adaptation of winged words in a particular language system. The proposed interpretation is demonstrated by the analysis of a specific expression flesh from flesh and its variants. The Russian language was particularly influenced by the Old Slavonic status of the lexeme flesh, which has no exact translation analogues in other languages.
