Covering the whole range of problems on the domestic and international agenda, the speeches of the President of the French Republic represent a valuable material for educational translation. Depending on students translation skills, in classroom there can be used the full text of the speech or its fragments. Despite the differences, and sometimes the direct opposition in the political views of French presidents over the past decade, there have been a few similarities not only in interpreting a whole series of issues, but also in the selection of linguistic means and expression forms. The use of different speeches that are close both in content and in form of expression in classroom helps to improve students translation skills. Among the factors influencing the adequacy of perception of a spoken speech, along with the complexity of the problems under discussion, the density of incoming information and the individual manner of speaker should be emphasized as particularly important.
