The linguistic and cultural potential of the lexeme ворон ‘raven’ in connection with the problem of representing this type of information in the dictionary is considered. The review of the works devoted to the study of the ornithonyms in various aspects is made. The results of the lexicographic description of this ornithonym in defining dictionaries of the Russian language are presented. The question is raised about the content of the definition in the description of ornithonym in defining-encyclopedic dictionary, and also about obligatory and optional characteristics that should be reflected in the definition of a header word. Special attention is paid to the analysis of lexicographic representation of the lexeme ворон ‘raven’ in linguistic-cultural dictionary. The author raises the question about the necessary amount of cultural and linguistic information, based on encyclopedic data, and its relation to linguistic data resulting from the study of standing similes and proverbs with ворон component, associations of native speakers and the etymology of the word. The definition of linguoculturolography as a new direction of modern lexicography is given. The term linguo-culturological dictionary type is introduced. The content of the term linguo-cultural potential of language unit is revealed. It is proved that in the linguo-culturological type of a dictionary there must be information based on the results of the previously made linguistic and cultural analysis. The novelty of the research is seen in the development of the stages of such analysis on the example of ornithonym ворон ‘raven’. The classification of motivational features underlying the standing similes, proverbs and sayings with ворон component is proposed.
