This article attempts to describe the special aspects of stylistic manner of the contemporary dramaturge Jean-Luc Lagarce. It reveals a continuity and development of the theme about power and weakness of word by French writers. This analysis has shown that a quest by characters of a suitable word is not only a device of the expression’s authenticity of the events and the sincerity of the characters, but also a reflection of the writer’s pessimistic view for the possibility of mutual understanding of people by each other.
