Crowdsourcing translation is becoming more and more popular. The article is dedicated to the factors motivating unprofessional volunteer translators to participate in crowdsourcing projects (material interests, a sense of inclusion, social recognition, cognitive interest, altruism, etc.). It also considers the opportunities of crowdsourcing model in teaching translation.
