The article examines some urbanonymic nominations as elements of the space of the fictional city of Ankh-Morpork in the series of books “Discworld” by Terry Pratchett. The authors analyze the meanings represented in the nominations of urban space objects and the adequacy of the applied translation techniques when transferring the semantics of these nominations into Russian. The conclusion from the consideration is the assertion that when transferring toponyms, the translator is always forced to combine translation techniques to achieve its maximum accuracy and reflect the author's intention when creating a “speaking” urbanonym.
