This article is devoted to the peculiarities of teaching microsocial studies of students and PhD students in universities. The authors substantiate the difference between microsocial research and sociological research, placing emphasis on the need to study first as much as the latter. The fact is that the problems of a small sample and a deviation from a normal distribution can be solved by using nonparametric statistics, qualitative methods, big data, web 3.0 and case-study strategies. This article details the features of the application of these methods in training, indicating their strengths and weaknesses. With respect to qualitative methods, the authors suggest using the potential of phenomenology, ethnomethodology and dramaturgic approaches. In the use of modern strategies big data and web 3.0, which today are the most promising in terms of studying the latest trends in society, the authors suggest ways to adjust a sample and data collection. Thus, the material presented in this article will be useful in developing courses on the methodology of science and methods of researching social processes, as well as for those engaged in practical research.
