The study consisted of two sets of experiments designed to evaluate the preventative and healing effects of alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan on gastric ulcers caused by indomethacin. In addition, we analyzed the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and the levels of the lipid peroxidation byproduct malondialdehyde (MDA) in the serum. Results. Preventive administration of alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan significantly mitigates the occurrence and severity of gastric ulcers, reducing ulcer frequency by up to 1.9—2.4-fold and mucosal damage by up to 2.7—3.1-fold. Additionally, there was an increase in SOD activity by up to 1.6—1.7-fold and a decrease in MDA levels, indicating reduced oxidative stress and emphasizing alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan{\textquoteright}s antioxidant properties. Therapeutically, alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan administration post-ulcer induction led to reduction in both the number and size of gastric ulcers at a 10 μg/kg dosage—decreased by 1.5-fold and 2.7-fold, respectively, compared to indomethacin group. These results were comparable with sucralfate-treated group. Gastroprotective activity was also noted, as shown by 1.2-fold increased SOD activity and 1.5-fold decreased MDA levels. Conclusions. The findings demonstrate that alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan exhibits anti-ulcerative and antioxidant properties when administered in a prophylactic and therapeutic regimen within an indomethacin-induced model of ulceration.",
