The Art of Boris Eifman The photography in this book captures, in stunning detail, performances of five productions of Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg, one of the foremost touring dance companies in the world today. Photographer Souheil Michael Khoury traveled with the company in 2011 and 2012, capturing the world premiere of Rodin in St Petersburg, as well as Anna Karenina in Amsterdam, Don Quixote in California, Onegin in London and Red Giselle in Italy. The essay by Tatiana Boborykina, professor of philology at St. Petersburg State University, relates Boris Eifman's personal story, his struggle during the Soviet era to freely express his artistic sensibility and vision, as well as his subsequent recognition and triumph in his country and on the world stage. It also sheds light on the ballets themselves, their literary history, their cultural relevance and their symbolism.
