The aim of the article is to compare the notions of reality in N. Hartmann and M. Heidegger ontologies. For reach it the author reconstructs the ideas of ontology in both philosophers with regard to its subject. He discusses the notions of reality in each philosopher and then compares them. The reciprocal critique of these thinkers is also analyzed in the paper. Reality is treated as existence of the entities being independent of human knowledge by Hartmann. But he doesn’t limit the volume of the notion of reality by the existence of material things. Heidegger treats reality as deficient mode of being constituted in the human understanding. The article’s author concludes that the Hartmann’s approach could complete Heidegger’s doctrine of reality as only mode of being understood by human being.
