The results of spectroscopic observations of the galaxy IC 1689 performed with the 6-m telescope are presented. The H alpha and [N II] emission lines have been detected in the region of the polar ring. The observed slope of the lines suggests that the ring rotates with a high velocity in the plane that is perpendicular to the principal plane of the galaxy.
