The authors examine the stress-strain state of an elastic domain weakened by a thin hole. The method of joining expansions is used to construct an asymptotic representation (with respect to a natural small parameter of the domain) of the exact solution. Formulas are obtained that relate the stress concentration coefficients and the stress intensity coefficients of the limiting problem, when the cavity contracts to a mathematical cut.
