On the basis of electrical interference a precision method of measuring ultrasonic velocity in the megahertz frequency range is proposed which is appropriate for the ultrasonic inspection of highly absorbing materials. Its errors are analyzed. An experimental arrangement for testing the method is described. Data are presented for measurements obtained with it on the ultrasonic propagation velocity in various polymers.
