Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute has a long-term experience in hydrometeorological support and selecting the optimal route of navigation along the Northern Sea Route. There is a method of shortterm selecting an optimal sailing route (up to 3-5 days lead time). One of the key challenges for hydrometeorological support and safe and cost-efficient navigation is developing automatic method for selecting the optimal shipping route in ice. In this study we present results of testing the auto-routing and discuss its perspectives.
