A comparison of high strain rate deformation mechanisms of different kinds of metals - body cubic centered (BCC), face cubic centered (FCC) and hexagonal close packed (HCP) metals is carried out. Shear strata rate - longitudinal, transversal and general - is experimentally defined with the help of registration grids technique under shock loading. It is shown multidimensionalness of dynamic deformation. It is investigated the influence of metal grain size on dynamic fracture resistance under pulse loading of BCC and FCC steels. The influence of mesoscopical scale level on dynamic deformation and fracture is established.
