This article analyzes the state of the left movement in the first two decades of the new century in the context of the traditions of the Komintern. The article discusses the process of formation of tactics, strategies and programs of the Communist Party in the XX century, shows the influence of the Komintern era on the political life of the Uruguayan left-wing forces in the 1950–1980s. Based on the media, expert opinions, governmental and party documents, the article shows the current challenges and features of the Uruguayan left-wing movement, as well as the influence of the III (Communist) International on the political practice and theory of the Uruguayan left movement, tactics and program of the Broad Front coalition.
