This current research work is dedicated to the problem of reception of the
hermetical treatise Tabula Smaragdina as reflected in Nicholas of Cusa’s legacy. The case could be made from the literature regarding the history of
Cusana that Nicholas was acquainted with the Latin text of Tabula Smaragdina. There are at least two copies of this treatise in the St. Nicholas Hospital Library in Kues, which are known due to researching of the Codex Cusanus 201. However, it’s still not clear whether Nicholas of Cusa made use of these copies at any time. In fact, there is still no special study in which the presumption regarding the role of Tabula Smaragdina in Nicholas of Cusa’s legacy is considered as a distinct subject of investigation. In this article the
question will be asked as to how far it is permissible to talk about any kind
of reception of Tabula Smaragdina by Cusanus. The current study focuses
on the problem of the meaning of the intellectual figure of „inferioris et superioris connexio“ as reflected in Nicholas of Cusa’s legacy with a view to his
interests in Hermeticism as well as in Lullism.
