An overview is given of results complementing the theory of an equation of state based on the excluded volume in three directions: generalizing the form of an equation of state with respect to long-range forces; computing the equation-of-state parameters in a multicomponent system at arbitrary particle size ratios; reformulating the theory in terms of reduced density. The theory based on the excluded volume does not touch upon long-range forces, but they should be taken in a specific form of the complete analysis of an equation of state. The theory based on the excluded volume does not yield a unique equation of state for all densities, but suggests separately an equation of state of a type for a condensed matter and an equation of state of a type for a fluid state, both of good accuracy.
