The growing media, social and linguistic visibility of the transgender community has pushed representations of transgenderism in language and discourse to the foreground of modern linguistic analysis. Our paper presents an overview of some strategies aimed at creating transgender-friendly language as well as the impact of transgender language reform on academic communication in the 21st century.
