The frequency theorem (Yakubovich-Kalman lemma) is one of the main points in the theory of linear and nonlinear control systems. The theorem gives the necessary and sufficient conditions of resolvability of Lourie and Rikkati equations. In this review, history of development of the frequency theorem is given and its application is described to the problems of the study of absolute stability and oscillations of nonlinear systems synthesis of optimal and adaptive control.
