The article reveals the key advantages of CLIL methodology in enhancing intercultural awareness of Italian language students. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the role of history in fostering learners' intercultural awareness in the framework of SOFT CLIL methodology. The authors advocate that Italian language teaching should involve exposing language learners to the materials reflecting the connection between historical events and cultural peculiarities. The authors focus on how Italian history can be integrated into the Italian language curriculum.
