In modern obstetrics, chronic placental insufficiency is paid increased attention due to the high frequency and the complications it causes. Chronic placental insufficiency is considered as one of the leading causes of perinatal loss and morbidity in newborns, as well as further negative consequences for the child health. The article presents an analytical review of published works, compiled using the Scopus, MedLine, The Cochrane Library, CyberLeninka, Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) and others databases, on the possibilities of diagnosing and correcting chronic placental insufficiency. It is shown that the currently available system for the diagnosis of chronic placental insufficiency leads to hyper- and under-diagnostics and needs to be re-evaluated.
