This paper presents the fundamental definitions of sub-Riemannian
geometry and Carnot–Carathéodory metrics. Estimates of Carnot–Carathéodory
metrics are studied in the context of the Ball–Box theorem. New formulas for
finding privileged coordinates are introduced.
