The article considers the main approaches for organizing and training senior executives in Russian companies taking into account the challenges caused by a changing external environment. These issues need to be discussed since many companies operating in emerging markets face a high level of competition from multinationals, which challenge them to constantly develop and retain unique, competitive advantages. These advantages can be developed at different organizational levels, especially at top management level, by making use of corporate training systems. However, some existing approaches can limit opportunities for the development of team competencies and tools of cooperation. This article analyses features of training systems for executive teams and specifies priorities in the decision-making process for HR professionals when organizing top management training systems. The work consists of an overview of theoretical concepts and is based on empirical research on Russian companies
