The letters and official documents revealing attempts to preserve scientific heritage of the academician S.F. Oldenburg in 1935–1944 are published in the article. Efforts of E.G. Oldenburg and those of colleagues of her spouse from Academy of Sciences of the USSR were not successful. Sharp changes in the conditions of scientific work, the shift of priorities in the scientific policy of the state and the beginning of the Great Patriotic War postponed for several decade resumption of the dialogue of Oldenburg over time.
