In the course of the information war, which issmoldering at the beginning of the 21st century, many names of prominent people of science and arts from the closest abroad were admixed with dirt or simply put in oblivion. However, the image of an outstanding physician Paul (Pavel Ivanovich) Stradin is still alive in the memory of the Russian and Latvian peoples: a surgeon,an oncologist, a historian of medicine and a prominent public figure,in whose fate the friendship of our nations was personified. The article considers the biography and creativity of P. I. Stradin against the background of the era in the context of the development of national surgery and oncology, as well as the exclusive contribution of P. I. Stradin in the development of medical education, culture, Museology and History of Medicine.
