The article is dedicated to two understudied wooden churches built in the second third of the 19th century in the Kargopol district, Arkhangelsk region (the former Kargopol district of the Olonets province): the Church of St. George in Zamoshye (1832-1838) and the Church of Hodegetria in Malaya Shalga (1833-1835). The construction history of both churches has been traced on the basis of the archival research and field findings. The churches are studied in a much wider context of the 19th century wooden architecture of the Russian North. The article is illustrated with the detailed measurement drawings and has an appendix, which contains the contract for the construction of the Church of Hodegetria in Malaya Shalga (1833) (archive material).
